Questions

What is the SCHADS sleepover allowance?

4.9% of the standard rate for each sleepover, listed as $62.87 in the Fair Work pay guide.

What if a worker is woken during a sleepover?

Time worked is paid at the overtime rate, with a minimum payment as for one hour worked (clause 25.7). The employer must also roster or pay at least four hours of work just before or just after the sleepover.

What can an NDIS provider claim for a sleepover?

Up to $311.79 per night (national) in 2026-27, which includes up to two hours of active support. A third or later hour can be claimed at the Saturday price on weekdays, or the price for that day on weekends and public holidays.

Sources and how this works

Worker pay: the sleepover allowance (4.9% of the standard rate, $62.87 per sleepover in the Fair Work pay guide) plus any work during the sleepover at the overtime rate, with a minimum payment of one hour (clause 25.7). Overtime is 150% for the first two hours and 200% after on Monday to Saturday, 200% on Sunday and 250% on public holidays (casuals plus 25%), as in the pay guide. NDIS claim: the sleepover price limit includes up to two hours of active support; a third or later hour is claimed at the Saturday price on weekdays, or the price for that day.
