Which level of support coordination

  • Level 1, support connection (07_001_0106_8_3): helps the participant understand and implement their plan, connect with broader systems of support and providers, keep support relationships going, resolve service issues and take part independently in NDIA processes.
  • Level 2, coordination of supports (07_002_0106_8_3): helps the participant design and build supports across a complex service environment, direct their life and build a resilient network of formal and informal supports, including targeted coordination and crisis planning.
  • Level 3, specialist support coordination (07_004_0132_8_3): for specific high complexity or high risk situations that need an expert approach from a qualified, experienced practitioner, such as a psychologist, occupational therapist, social worker or mental health nurse. It is generally intensive and time-limited.
  • 10_002_0106_8_3: Level 2 coordination from a coordinator with an existing relationship, to help with employment, funded from the employment assistance budget.
  • 01_850_0106_1_1: Individualised Living Options exploration and design, for participants exploring and designing their own living arrangement.

Claiming rules

  • Level 1 short notice cancellations follow the 7-day rule; Level 2 and Level 3 follow the 2 clear business days rule. In both cases the provider can claim up to 100% of the agreed fee if the conditions are met.
  • Non-face-to-face work, provider travel and NDIA requested reports can be claimed for support coordination, under the general conditions.
  • The plan management fee pays a plan manager to manage and monitor budgets over the plan, manage NDIS claims, pay providers, keep records and give at least monthly statements.
  • Plan managers must make sure providers’ prices do not exceed the price limits, whether the provider is registered or unregistered, and must include the provider’s ABN and a valid tax invoice with each payment request.
  • For plans in the PACE system, the plan manager must be recorded as one of the participant’s “my providers” to be paid.
