Types of overnight support

Overnight and 24-hour disability care we provide

The right type of night support depends on how often you need help and what kind of help it is. We’ll work it out with you.

Sleepover shifts

A worker stays overnight and can sleep, and is there if you need help during the night.

Active overnight support

A worker stays awake all night for regular repositioning, monitoring or frequent assistance.

24/7 rosters

A consistent team rostered around the clock for people who need support at all times.

High intensity nights

Night support from workers trained in complex needs, such as seizure management or complex bowel care.

Short-term cover

Night support after a hospital stay, or while a family carer has a break.

Morning & evening routines

Help settling into bed and starting the day, alongside the night shift.

How overnight support is funded

How the NDIS funds sleepovers and 24/7 care.

Overnight and 24-hour support at home is usually funded from your Core Supports budget under Assistance with Daily Life. A sleepover is claimed as one unit per night when the shift starts before midnight, finishes after midnight and runs for 8 hours or more, and the worker can sleep when not needed. It includes up to two hours of active support during the night; a third or later hour is claimed at the Saturday rate on weekdays, or the rate for the day on weekends and public holidays.

If you need help regularly through the night, an active (awake) night shift is charged per hour instead. We work with plan-managed and self-managed participants, and we do not guarantee funding outcomes. Read more in sleepover and night rates explained.

2026-27 price limits (national)

We charge at or under the NDIS price limit and show it on every invoice. See the price guide.

Questions

Overnight & 24/7 support FAQs.

What is an NDIS sleepover shift? +
A sleepover is an overnight shift where the worker can sleep when not needed. It starts before midnight, finishes after midnight and runs for 8 hours or more. It includes up to two hours of active support during the night.
What is the NDIS sleepover rate for 2026-27? +
The national price limit for a night-time sleepover (01_010_0107_1_1) is $311.79 per night. A third or later hour of active support during the night is claimed at the Saturday rate on weekdays, or at the rate for the day on weekends and public holidays.
Sleepover or active overnight support: which do I need? +
If you only need help occasionally during the night, a sleepover usually suits. If you need help most nights for more than two hours, or need someone awake to monitor you, an active night shift paid by the hour is the right choice.
Can I get 24/7 disability support at home? +
Yes, where it is reasonable and necessary in your plan. We roster a consistent team around the clock, combining day shifts, evening shifts and sleepovers or active nights.
Do you provide overnight respite for carers? +
Yes. A worker can stay overnight so a family carer can sleep or have a night away. See respite for carers.
